Design Task
You are a product designer working for a firm that specializes in designing board games. You have been tasked with designing and manufacturing an educational board, a travel game or a board game based on popular culture such as movies, Tv series or current affairs. It is important that the project is robust to prevent it from breaking if dropped. The game should be fun and appeal to young children and adults alike. The game must also be packaged to enable it to be advertised and sold in local stores and craft fairs. This means costs must be kept to a minimum and you must be able to make more than one of the same game.. The winning designs will be awarded a lucrative contract to build.
TOP TIPS for producing your design portfolio.
TRY to follow a theme throughout the whole portfolio
Take your time on EVERY page, there is no rush. You shouldn’t have to spend more
than an hour per page.
If you have messy handwriting, you can opt to print pages and stick them in
(font no larger than 12). Don’t copy and paste information, it’s obvious and not
worth any marks
Add your own creative flair to the portfolio
Use the examples to help you, but DO NOT copy. These are to help your remote learning.
This is work you will be assessed on
Ensure you have a notes around your sketches and design ideas to explain your thinking
Keep your handwriting, neat and a relevant size. Do not increase the size to fill
space. All text on a PC should be size 12.
