Sketchbook: Analysis of Ideas
This page has is going to look at the 5 ideas that you have refined. You now need to make a key decision which idea that you are going to develop into a final solution. o a final solution. You need to analyse these ideas and compare them to the specification you produced earlier.

TASK ONE

Scan, redraw or stick in your CAD designs in your sketchbook. Next to each idea produce a star diagram chart. Label the axis using ACCESS FM. Aesthetics, consumer, cost, environment, safety, size, function and materials. You can add more axis based upon your specification criteria if you wish. How you lay the design page out is also up to you.

Chosen Idea to Develop:

TASK TWO

Read over your specification table for each target. Then give your design a score. Mark this on your chart. Join the lines up to complete the shape using a ruler.
This should very quickly show you the strengths and weakness of each design proposal. You can then make an informed decision on how well it meets the specification and the conclusions you made from your research. Does it meets the clients needs and wants?

Chosen Idea to Develop:

You can clearly see that design 1 is the strongest design in terms of meeting the criteria set out in the specification. Design 3 needs to be developed in several areas such as aesthetics, cost, client, safety, size and function. The materials and environment score highly.
Using ACCESS FM undertake a detailed analysis of the 5 refined designs Hover over the headings below. Remember to refer back to your specification criteria as well as what could be further improved..

You may need to conduct some further research….
