Sketchbook: Design Contexts
A design context is a short written explanation or outline - given to you from the exam board - it does not outline the aims, objectives and milestones of a design project. We will explore this as a later stage.
A thorough and articulate understanding of the design context is a critical part of the design process.
TASK 1: Design Contexts
Produce a page in your sketchbook on the three design contexts you have been provided. These contexts will be available to you on or after June 1st.
●
|
Split the page into three, write the three design contexts at the top of the sections.
|
●
|
You need to analyse the three design contexts, looking at the possibilities for potential design projects within each context.
|
Designing for a sustainable future:
Design and make a sustainable proposal to replace an existing product(s)
Revitalised/modernised product:
Research and identify a particular product and revitalize/modernize that product
by clearly introducing specific changes
product(s)
Enhancing everyday life:
Research into problems and design a product that would help a person or persons carryout
basic important tasks in everyday life.
- What do you think the context means?
- What areas could you research?
- What problems could you solve?
- What potential outcomes could you make?
