Context
The rising population and housing shortages has left 1.2million people in the UK
on housing waiting lists. There are currently 6 million people in insecure tenancies.
The average house price in Sept 2021 was £250,000. This has left people unable to
buy housing and excluded a number of the population accessing the housing market.
Design Task
You are an architect working for a firm that specializes in designing buildings that
are made from shipping containers and are sustainable. You are to design a modern
tiny house on a site in North Wales from two shipping containers or similar. The
design should be a solution to the housing crisis, by being quick and cheap to assemble.
It must also be sensitive to the local surroundings. It will include fixtures and
fittings that must be well designed as space is very limited.
